1. What’s working since your shift to remote programming? Are these established or new approaches?2. How are you intending to approach training and ramping up programs for the fall?3. In what ways might your program flex its services in order to create new opportunities to support students and learning as we continue on through the pandemic?
I have to head off to another meeting. Thanks everyone.
Bye, Jonathan! Good to see you for a moment!
at Lane Community College we are using WCOnline for scheduling, record keeping and reporting.
Teams is another way you can connect online with chat, audio, video, and screen sharing.
If you haven’t seen GoBoard, check out goboard.com. It’s free, has video, and has tool sets for math, chemistry, physics and others. Helps to have a graphic tablet or other way to write.
We've set up a Virtual Learning Center server in Discord, and are going to be exploring transitioning our drop-in online support services to potentially use that in the fall
We are using Discord as a tutor social space, so they can talk to each other outside of the very structured places in the Learning Center
We also use Discord, for tutors to hang out, swap shifts, and for announcements/reminders.
We've also set up a separate Staff server in DIscord for the same thing
I have to prepare for another meeting. It was great chatting with all of you!
We've created a short video that instructors can embed or link in their courses in addition to a link to our services.

For those who are offering drop in online tutoring, are you limiting the number of people who can attend? How many tutors doing you have staffing the drop in session? Thanks!
Mary Jayne, we didn’t limit the number of attendees; I have anywhere from 1-4 tutors working at a given time, depending on the time and day. We had such low usage though, that we really didn’t ever run into situations where we had more students in for help than we had tutors available.
Our drop-in support is through Zoom. We have up to 2 staff working at a time, and we use a Waiting Room to limit simultaneous students to one per staff member. We use breakout rooms to keep student sessions private
I have to leave for another meeting. Thank you all for attending, it was great to see you!
Out booking system allows only 1:1 appointments for now, but there is a workaround to get more students. Two or more students get an 1 hour slot instead of 30minutes.
We have tutors who are not otherwise booked sit in on our online drop-in tutoring session (an ongoing Blackboard Collaborate session). If a student comes into drop-in, we move the student and tutor to a breakout room.

I have to go but it was great!
Thank you everyone--I got some great ideas to take back and share with my team
Thanks again for the opportunity to join this group today.
for embedding tutors, take a look at Supplemental Instruction. There are some well-defined strategies for this type of program

Thank you all! Your information is very helpful.
Thank you everyone!
Thanks, nice to check in and see everyone
Great conversations today, thank you all!
Thank you and good-bye!
